Craftsmanship
We work with small independent workshops in the UK and Europe whose focus is on sustainability and craftsmanship, and where each maker is a specialist in their field. The body components of our lights are manufactured in small batches at a family-run workshop outside Barcelona that has specialised in paper pulp products since the 1890s.

Sustainable materials
The paper pulp we use is made from recycled paper which has been processed on site, and air dried to limit its carbon footprint. Our paint is made in Iceland and Sweden using 100% geothermal energy, and has a low VOC (volatile organic compound) rating.

Minimising waste
The modular system of our U/V Collection creates 14 designs from five moulded, recycled paper pulp shapes. Each design is paired and painted to order, reducing stock waste. Our lights’ metal and electric components are made in a small family-run factory in Birmingham, where waste filings are collected and re-used.

RECYCLABLE PACKAGING
We take care to use recycled and recyclable materials in our packaging to the fullest extent possible. We use untreated recycled tissue, 100% recyclable and biodegradable hive wrap, and recyclable corrugated cardboard made from 100% recycled materials to protect our lights. Our boxes are made from 60-90% recycled materials and can be recycled again. Where added protection is necessary, we use 100% recyclable oxo-degradable bubble wrap.

Palefire is inspired by art and design movements, from the wild aesthetic of the Arts & Crafts movement to the pared-back forms of European modernism.
